To securely erase hard drives connected to Array controllers is technically advanced because the array controller typically does allow direct access to the individual drives. In addition, the controller typically reserves areas on the drives for internal use such as caching, and configuration. With this unique solution you can erase the hard drives 100% even if they are connected to an array controller.

Erasing drives connected to array controllers used to be a time consuming process. Typically the drives had to be removed from the server/enclosure, and dismantled from the drive carrier and connected to a traditional SCSI host adapter. Server Eraser is distributed on a bootable CD that is used to start the ProLiant server. The program will automatically detect the installed SmartArray controllers, and the individual drives connected to them. The user has the option to select/deselect controllers, buses/channels, or individual drives. This gives the user maximum flexibility in selecting which drives should be erased.
